Don't waste your money. You'd think this would be pretty good (because it bares the "Olympus" name), however, it didn't work, right out of the box.
now she thanks me for buying this for her. the audio quality of her recordings is better with it. my sister uses her olympus audio recorder at school for recording lectures. i bought this for her so she could record the teacher even from far away.
No odd swishing or weird "extras" like delays or echos. The audio files are right and tight. I start the recorder and leave it on the desk as I lecture and wander around the front of the room.Sounds great, works well Works very well picks up everything I need it to. No caveats.
I'm not even sure this mic improved my sound quality at all. I'd recommend spending twice the money for something else. Small mic + small price = small quality. Buyer beware, you get what you pay for.
So in order for the person to hear me I have to cock my laptop to the side. For proper use, the sound must be directed into the TOP of the mic. It would be much nicer if the angle of the head was adjustable so I sit directly in front of my laptop and people hear me. I bought this to add a microphone to my laptop (for Skype). It works fine, I have a input jack on the right of my laptop.
